OUR VALUES

The heart of Mountain Farm Herbs is deeply rooted in the ethics of Permaculture; Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share.

To ‘Care for the Earth’ means to value and protect our natural resources and wild ecosystems. We help steward the health and fertility of the land on which we farm through organic and seasonal growing, sustainable harvesting practices, and intentionally creating niche opportunities to expand biodiversity.

To ‘Care for People’ means we value integrity, honesty and the building of relationships to instill creative cooperation instead of thoughtless competition. We offer these healing products back to our community to create optimal health and physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

To promote ‘Fair Share’ we value re-investing the surplus of our yields; be it energy, education, finances or materials, back into the land, the farm and the business itself, out into the community at large. This assures the continued sustainability and regeneration of the entire system for many generations to come.

* The ethics, principle and practices of Permaculture were conceived and developed in the 1970s by co-workers Bill Mollinson and David Holmgren in Australia. Originally the term was a contraction of “Permanent Agriculture” for that is what it was, the design and implementation of permanent (sustainable) agricultural systems.

OUR CLIMATE COMMITMENT:

E-commerce deliveries have a carbon footprint. That’s why we support cutting edged companies that help remove carbon from the air.

Here’s how it works: For every order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates a portion of our revenue goes to carbon removal companies. Those companies then use that money to remove however much carbon our shipments created. Any extra funds go toward the further development of carbon removal technologies.

Grassroots Carbon helps ranchers modify land management practices to improve soil and ecological health, which captures and stores more carbon in soil.
