Gifts of the forest

Gifts of the forest

Whether it’s observing the new life pushing fourth from the Earth, witnessing circles within circles in sacred water, celebrating solar returns, finding joy on a forest dance floor or looking down on familiar views from a higher perspective, everything meaningful to me happens within the backdrop of the natural world.

Within the forest, wrapped in the comforting arms of tree limb and birdsong and peaking sunshine through almost April showers, I feel the most at home. As the energy builds towards the growing seasons, may we all take the time to slow down, be in nature, rest within your own body and mind and find someway to stay present with all you find there.

Walking these wild lands I see new growth everywhere I look, from the leafing out of the Cottonwood buds, to the bloom of the Salmonberry flowers, and in the vibrant colours of a Spring butterfly.

True healing begins within, with sitting with all we are usually trying to avoid. Being able to feel the moments of safety and serenity among others that feel more intense and unstable, is a practice that builds capacity to be with all that is yet to be known.

Nature always reminds me that new growth is inevitable, it's just as matter of time. Ready or not here it comes, says the natural world around us, there is no stopping the Spring, there is only leaning into all that is wanting to grow within and without.

May we all visit the sacred trees, smell the ripening pollen on the breeze, and witness the Earth become a symphony of birds and bees, blooms and shades of green. This world, with its joys and pains, sunshine and rains, after all, is such a magnificent gift.
