Halfway through my fourth season of growing & gathering Herbs in Squamish Valley, and I am feeling more committed to this work than ever before.
Alongside the joys and achievements of building something from nothing, I've had my fair share of setbacks along the way. I've faced countless unforeseen challenges resulting in dips in energy and enthusiasm that have for sure made me question many times why I do all of this work every year.
But no matter what, at the end of every busy day, at the close of every long season, being out in the gardens surrounded by these medicinal plants I've raised from tiny seeds and being able to finally experience the symphony of bees, butterfly's and blooms, always deeply reminds me the innate value of growing healing herbs for a world in crisis, now more than ever.
No one said growing the off-grid Herb Farm of your dreams would be easy, no one guaranteed me that if I took the leap and did the work it would be successful. My definition of success has for sure changed over the years and now everyday that I battle the odds and just show up to do what needs to be done, feels like a win.
