There’s not many things in this world better than a evening in an off-grid, fire heated bathtub outside among the Red Cedars and Douglas Firs, truly taking the term ‘forest bathing’ to a whole new level.
It took us a little longer than I’d like to admit to build one of these in our yard. Looking back it was just another dream among many that we had when first moving to the wilderness my many years ago, outside of the city water grids, the luxury of indoor plumbing and easily accessible electricity. Thanks to fire, water, stone and cast iron, this is one of those dreams that has now become a reality.
After my partner drew me a bath after a busy market day the other weekend, I finally had that visceral moment of feeling like we had accomplished something. This bathtub, our off-grid life, the Herb Farm, the reality hit that we’ve accomplished many things we now get to actually enjoy.
There may not be many things in the world better than this, but I can tell you that lathering yourself in our nourishing ‘Evergreen Body Oil’ after a long hot bath like this is something that takes any post bathing experience to the next level. The trees help remind us that we are Nature.
