Come along on my annual roadtrip journey out of the Squamish Valley for the always incredible Canadian Herb Conference's Kootenay Herb Gathering!
Hundreds of herbalists, plant lovers, practitioners and Herb enthusiasts alike came from all around to Rest, Root and Renew for 3 days of Herbal workshops, guided plant walks, storytelling, music and movement in the Slocan Valley.
Was thrilled to witness educational talks from Emery Herbals, Beverley Gray, Todd Caldecott and so many others. There were also such amazing local vendors and herb farmers such as Mending Roots Farm, Althaea Herbals and Blue Lotus Ethnobotanicals just to name a few.
Super grateful to all the folks that came to support Mountainfarm Herbs at the blanket market on Saturday evening, it’s always so incredible to meet you all in person and share these handcrafted herbal offerings.
As I pulled a card from ‘The Herbal Astrology Oracle’ deck just before closing circle I was reminded about the importance of community through the messages of 'Kava Kava' written by Adriana Ayales.
“Although you might be amid an important moment in your life, remember that you don’t have to do it alone. When you widen your circles intentionally, you receive support from the universe, and others to join you on the path. Oftentimes finding your purpose within your community and the parallels with your inner journey can provide great relief and meaning.”
Thank you again to everyone who makes these events possible, and to the new acquaintances and friends that create even stronger webs of connection. It truly takes a village to create opportunities like this and I for one am grateful to feel like even a small part of such a powerful group of plant people.
Hope to see you all next year at the Vancouver Island Herb Gathering! But now, it’s time for the slow drive back out west to my own sweet little Herb Farm and off-grid life.
